
Welcome to the Glooscap Heritage Centre
Visit the Glooscap Heritage Centre to gaze at the 40-foot statue of Glooscap and to learn about the Mi'kmaq - the Aboriginal group of Nova Scotia. The Glooscap Heritage Centre, located on the outskirts of Truro, Nova Scotia, is dedicated to the celebration of Mi'kmaq heritage. The Centre also has a modern Visitor Information Centre and a Gift Shop with an Aboriginal focus
Admission is charged to visit the Heritage Centre exhibits that include:
- An innovative multimedia presentation where you will learn about the history of the Mi'kmaw.
- An audio exhibit where you will learn about the language and even how to say some Mi'kmaw words.
- Beautifully detailed quill and beadwork which are still part of Mi'kmaw culture today.
- Some of the oldest Aboriginal tools found anywhere in Canada.
- Impressive traditional clothing and artifacts.
- Glooscap's Courtyard where you will learn about the statue and how important Glooscap is to the Mi'kmaw and to Nova Scotia.
The Heritage Centre is open year round - Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. From May 12th to October 18th, hours of operation will be Monday to Friday 8:30am to 7:30pm; Saturday and Sunday 10am to 6pm. The Centre will be closed from December 22nd to January 5th for the holiday season.
